Review - Kosmea Energising Radiance Mask

Updated: Jul 13, 2020

Here's another of my "natural" beauty discovery I would like to share. I have been a long time fan of Kosmea. I highly rate their original rose hip oil and replenishing moisture cream. I have not tried any of these after their recent repackaging (I hope the formulae stay the same!) but I was lucky enough to try their energising radiance mask from as part of Beautyheaven discovery bag.

Claims

This facial mask offers intense hydration and nourishment for the skin, from natural ingredients, including jojoba oil, Kakadu plum, and moisture locking; Saccharide Isomerate. Harness the healing power of Rosehip Oil and Calendula to rebalance moisture, leaving the skin calmed and deeply nourished.

Assisting with strengthening and repairing the skin barrier, your skin will be plump, radiant and full of moisture.

Pop the mask on and have a relaxing bubble bath or apply the mask before bed to wake up with long-lasting moisturisation!

My experience

This mask claims to be suitable for all skin type, especially dry, so I was expecting a very thick cream mask. To my surprise, the mask feels watery. It is the thinnest mask that I have used. The mask does not really layer. I find it impossible to apply thickly even if I want to. The first impression wasn't great!

The mask is white when first applied, but will eventually dry to a semi-transparent paste. Because of this reason, even though the instructions say it can be left on skin overnight, I would not do it worrying water may be drawn back out from the skin.

I enjoy the sweet botanical scent of the mask while I have it on.

The mask can be rinsed off quite clean with minimal . Most of the time I use a wash cloth to wipe it off.

I have only used this mask as a quick 15 minute treatment. The instructions say it can be used as an overnight mask, but I did not try using it this way as it does dry up to an extent, and I am not a fan of overnight masks anyway as I sleep on the side.

Results

Even though I didn't think the consistency is thick enough for my liking, it is actually quite effective considering how thin it is. My skin is always soft and feels nourished after using the mask. At one stage I was using it every evening and it helped my skin to stay moisturised and hydrated. No breakout has been observed. I don't think that it gives me any additional "radiance", but it does make my skin feel rejuvenated. Absolutely worth getting at the price of $24.95.

One other thing that I would briefly mention is that Kosmea rose hip oil (contained in this mask) is supercritically extracted (extracted in the presence of carbon dioxide), which is one of the best available extraction methods to preserve the integrity of the nutrient components.
