I have been a fan of Eau Thermale Avène's thermal spring water for a long time. It is a staple in my makeup artist kit. Priced at $26 a bottle it is probably the most expensive water I would ever buy, but I am not only attracted to its ability as a finishing spray to create a blended dewy makeup look. In fact, the possibilities are endless - once, I had to resort to using it to clean bird droppings on my windscreen when I realised my car's water squirter was empty. Having a clear vision to get to my destination safely and punctually was of utmost importance - trust me, you do not want to piss a bride off by turning up late on her wedding day.
In fact, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about all the other Avène products I have tried. They are simple, and they do exactly what they say they would. I admire its simplistic approach (well, if one of its best-sellers is a twenty-six-dollars-bottled-water, you know it must be doing something very right), so I just had to check it out when the pop up store in Westfield Sydney CBD opened this week.
The pop up store promotes the launch of the new Tolérance Extrême range, which contains only 3 products - cleansing lotion, emulsion (for normal to combination skin) and cream (for dry to very dry skin), designed for sensitive and hyper-sensitive skin. The major selling point for this range is the exclusion of preservatives, parabens, emulsifiers, fragrance, alcohol and surfactants. They sound like excellent products to use during episodes of skin irritations.
What's more exciting though (well, for me anyway), is the giving away of 50 goody bags every day this week! The store opens at 9:30am each day, and when I consciously or subconsciously "ducked out for a coffee" this morning at 9:27am there was surprisingly no queue - not a single customer except me! The Avène consultant also patiently explained to me the new products and other products that I now get to sample as part of the goody bag (so lucky!)
